Chicken in No Time!

If you follow my blog on a regular basis then you may have noticed that I like cooking with chicken. Besides that, it’s easy to work with and a generally lesser expensive meat, there are several health benefits that probably never crossed your mind.

1. Sugar-Free! – Chicken is a sugar-free food! It doesn’t have any carbs either. I think we all know sugar is bad and avoiding it when possible is a win-win.

2. High in Protein – Chicken has the highest amount of protein than any meat! Check out this list of foods that are considered good protein sources. Notice that chicken is #1! Protein plays an essential role in our diets. It helps build muscle and is made up of amino acids. And we are learning that diets higher in lean protein help with weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight.

3. Packed full of vitamins and minerals – Chicken has the following minerals: calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc. And for vitamins, it contains: vitamin C, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, folate, vitamin B12, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin D, and vitamin K. BAM! You can geek out over the numbers by viewing the USDA report here.

4. Good for lowering Cholesterol – Now what I mean by this statement is that the American Heart Association has stated that eating chicken lowers the risk of high cholesterol. Source.

The bottom line is chicken is a good healthy kid-friendly meat that you can feel good about serving your kiddos. I mean… if it wasn’t then “chicken nuggets” would have never taken off! And chicken is super easy to turn into a yummy dish for when you have guests coming over.

I write in order to help YOU save time. Life is already so busy! Below are some of my favorite recipes that are easy and quick to make.
